Many many of us have been wishing to use the 360 controller and the chatpad in this way, but the expense and headache with the known workaround is way above most of us (and at the very least above me!). But it should work with WIRED 360 CONTROLLER!!! New xbox 360 controller driver released really recently!!! Its date 11 SEMPTEMBER 2008. I'm trying to use my wired Xbox 360 controller with my new Asus laptop (which only has USB3 plugs), I plugged in the 360 controller and windows told me: 'Device driver software was not successfully installed'. I also installed the following drivers (and drivers from the Asus website) but it doesn't do anything. Windows itself does not have the required drivers to work with the chatpad unless some guy reprogrammed all the Xbox 360 Controller drivers with chatpad support. And that would take some effort. Also, it could get you a VAC ban. Could you implement chatpad support for Xbox 360 wireless controller on ppsspp (and why not on Dolphin too or even better, as a separate windows driver usable by any application)? Microsoft site says: 'The chatpad cannot be used on a controller that is connected to a personal computer.' Switching between the chatpad driver and the normal controller driver causes issues on the wired controller. CC is exploiting the fact that it's possible to turn off the controller before switching driver when using a wireless driver to ensure that the Windows Xbox 360 Driver doesn't end up in a bad state.

  • The Xbox 360 Chatpad is for use exclusively with Xbox 360 wired or wireless controllers.
  • The chatpad cannot be used on a controller that is connected to a personal computer.
  • Before you connect the chatpad to the controller, make sure your Xbox 360 console is up to date by connecting to Xbox Live.
  • Be sure to turn off your controller before connecting the chatpad to make sure you don’t accidentally press any buttons.

  1. Turn the controller and the Xbox 360 Chatpad upside down. They should both be face up, but they should be upside down. (See the illustration in this section.)
  2. Grasping the controller in both hands, align the chatpad with the base of the controller. You want the connector plug (the metal pin) on the chatpad to align with the controller's expansion port (the little hole).
  3. Push the chatpad onto the controller with even pressure from your forefingers until they snap together. You will hear a click when the chatpad is in place, and there will be no gaps between the chatpad and the controller.
